New PS5, PS4 Game Releases This Week (July 18

It’s advised that we all stay inside and avoid the sun this week due to the unbearable heat. What better excuse is needed to stay indoors, close the blinds, crack open a few cold beverages and hunker down with some video games? Pfft, like we need an excuse, but it’s nice to have one all the same.

So, what’s new on PS5 and PS4 this week? Well, it’s a fairly packed week and if you can refrain from throwing your money at cheap desk fans and ice lollies, there’s plenty of good stuff to spend your rent on.

We’re starting the week with Stray, the feline-led platformer. Sadly, our Jack Coleman didn’t warm to this one too much in his Stray reviewbut rumor has it he’s a dog person anyway.

One of the biggies this week that is sure to fill the corporate coffers is Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance II, which is releasing across generations on PS5 and PS4, which is fitting as it’s a re-release from previous generations gone by. The other is, naturally, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – Trials of the Dragon King, yet another Final Fantasy spin-off/prequel/alternate universe, though this time under the stewardship of Koei Tecmo.

The rest of the week has a bit of everything for everyone. There’s the retro fix with the Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium; survival-horror with Dreadout 2; and absolute carnage with the retro-inspired first-person shooter Post Void that looks like a fever dream coded by a super villain. Probably your best bet for a good time, then.
