There have been plenty of rumors regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 and the possibility that it might come to the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. In fact, we reported on some of these rumors. Now, Rockstar has officially weighed in on the discussion, and it turns out that… Red Dead Redemption 2 will not come to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Red Dead Redemption for PS5 Canceled
Well, first of all: The rumors weren’t wrong. Rockstar was actually planning to bring Red Dead Redemption 2 to the newer consolesbut the game was sheltered.
As per a reliable source with clear accuracy on Rockstar plans, remasters of GTA IV & RDR1 were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind.
The poor reception of the Trilogy DE might be a reason behind that decision.#GTAIV #RDR1

Then, a short time after that, the leaker doubled down, confirming that there wil truly be no Red Dead Redemption on the new consoles:
Per Tez2, it doesn’t look like Rockstar Games wants to ship out a new enhanced version of #RedDeadRedemption2 for next-gen consoles anytime soon.
It’s an absolute crime to abandon this game over GTAV. pic.twitter.com/lZWsJTX8sq

The leaker in question is Tez2, and has been right more often than not in the past. Still, if a Twitter-leaker is not credible enough for you, and you still harbor hope that Red Dead Redemption 2 will get an update, then I have bad news for you: Kotaku backed up the rumors and confirmed that there are no remakes for RDR 2 (and RDR, and GTA 4) planned. Instead, Rockstar is intending to focus on GTA 6 until it’s released.
Over the past few years, we have been steadily moving more development resources towards the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series — understanding more than ever the need to exceed players’ expectations and for this next entry to be the best it can possibly be.
