The Lord of the Rings: Gollum recently received its first full gameplay trailer, and the fan response to the game hasn’t exactly been glowing.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is coming soon, but fans aren’t too enthusiastic about the first real glimpse at gameplay.
Publisher Nacon revealed the first glimpse at the upcoming LOTR: Gollum on July 7, showing off the titular playable character as he climbs, swims, and does that scrambling Gollum-walk around Middle Earth. The fan response was not especially positive, as many criticized the game’s poor graphics, comparing it to a PlayStation 3 game.
While most criticism was reserved for the game’s low visual fidelity, players also had concerns about other elements of LOTR: Gollum. Some worried that the presentation of Gollum himself didn’t do the character justice.
The criticism against LOTR: Gollum isn’t exclusive to either hardcore Lord of the Rings fans or longtime gamers. It seems like just about everyone has something negative to say about the upcoming title.
LOTR: Gollum may be preparing for release, but the consensus among fans seems to be that the title doesn’t quite look up to snuff. Not everyone wants to visit a very blurry version of Middle Earth.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Windows and Nintendo Switch on September 1, 2022.
