The Last of Us Joel & Ellie statue brings PS3 cover to life

A new statue of Joel and Ellie from The Last of Us is now available to pre-order, inspired by the game’s original PS3 box art.

This latest piece of TLOU merch comes via Gaming Heads and will cost a fair bit. There are two versions available – standard and deluxe – with prices between $500 and $550 depending on whether you want additional weapons to equip the two post-apocalyptic survivors. It’s worth noting that there are only 1,000 of these statues up for grabs which will ship out to customers some time in early 2023.

It may sound expensive though gaming collectors will know all too well the cost of premium statues and other pieces of sought after memorabilia. Joel and Ellie are considerably cheaper than the Clicker statue Gaming Heads had on sale for $1,500 – all 750 of these quickly sold out. Previously, the company has partnered with a number of video game publishers to create detailed statues based on characters including Kratos, Jak and Daxter, and the cast of Team Fortress 2.

It’s no coincidence that a new statue has appeared with The Last of Us about to celebrate its 9th anniversary. The original game launched on the PlayStation 3 on June 14, 2013, many fans expecting Sony and Naughty Dog to announce something new to mark the occasion.

They may have a big surprise waiting the pipeline though any major announcements will likely be kept on the backburner until September 26th, otherwise known as Outbreak Day.

There’s been a long period of radio silence between Naughty Dog and The Last of Us fans though something’s definitely brewing. We’re still waiting to hear what’s happened to the Factions 2.0 multiplayer with some speculating it will launch as a standalone multiplayer title that will spearhead Sony’s push into the games-as-a-service arena. There has also been talk of a TLOU remake as well as a beefed up PS5 version of Part II for PS5. This could all coincide with the upcoming release of HBO’s television series.
