PS Plus Premium Confirms New PS1, PSP Games

Although Sony recently revealed an extensive slate of PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, PS4, and PSP games coming to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium when it launches next month, that was only a taste of the games to come. The exact number of launch titles is not yet known, but Sony has promised over 700+ games for PS Plus Premium users.

While North America will be getting PS Plus Premium on June 13, the service launches in about two days in Asia. Because of this, some more games seem to be appearing online for the service’s launch. Now two new games, a PSP and a PS1 game, have now been shown off for the service.

These two new titles include the PSP game Ridge Racer 2 and the PS1 game Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. Ridge Racer 2 is an arcade-style racing game, where players choose a car, a transmission, and a song for races against others. Certain vehicles can be unlocked, and depending on the version of the game, mirror tracks could be unlocked too. Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, on the other hand, is a platform game, the first of many in a beloved franchise. Players take on the role of Abe as they attempt to liberate the enslaved Mudokons before they are slaughtered.

Each game has been updated with new features for PS Plus Premium, including up-rendering, rewind, quicksave, and video filters. For many, these may not be the most interesting or convincing titles to come to the service, but they are just two of many. There will also certainly be fans who are nostalgic of them.

It should be noted that, currently, the PS1 and PSP titles coming to PS Plus Premium are the least-known-about section of the service. This is likely due to adding in the new features, as well as other work obviously not required for the PS4 and PS5 games coming to the service. As it stands, alongside the two aforementioned games, PS Plus Premium includes the following PS1/PSP titles:

  • Ape Escape
  • Hot Shots Golf
  • IQ Intelligent Qube
  • Jumping Flash!
  • Siphon Filter
  • Super Stardust Portable
  • Mr Driller
  • tekken 2
  • Worms World Party
  • Worms Armageddon

As PS Plus Premium nears its Asian release, fans can probably expect to learn about more titles coming to the service. Ultimately, of course, they’ll know for sure come June 13 and should keep in mind that there may be regional differences.
