Minecraft Player Creates Stunning Stop Motion Short in Game

To some in the community, Minecraft is more than just an open-world sandbox game, and one fan uses it to create a rather complex animated piece.

Minecraft is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the biggest success stories in the realm of video games, going from an indie title to one of the biggest IPs in the industry. Its rise to fame over the past decade or so cannot be overstated, and with Mojang releasing The Wild update recently, it will almost certainly continue to be one of the most popular mainstream games around. Much of this popularity is down to a dedicated community that not only uses what the developer has given them to create interesting builds and even animations.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Many may not think of Minecraft as somewhere that animation can take place, but that’s exactly what Reddit user CatchImpossible6123 has done, or at least what they’ve shown. Using stop motion, an animated sequence has been created that shows lightning hitting the ground, followed by a giant rising from the very Earth. The giant then swipes at the floor, which causes a mighty explosion that ends with the goliath being crumbling. The result is an incredible short that evidently puts the user’s building skills to good use.

As some in the comments have said, it must have taken the player a very long time to put the animation together, given that they would have had to build and rebuild every frame before taking each snapshot. There are numerous examples of fans using Minecraft to create stop motion animation, but this particular one shows an enormous amount of dedication on its creator’s part. It should be pointed out that a few commenters mentioned that this may not have been made by the user who uploaded the clip, but whoever did create it, it is certainly an incredible piece of footage.

It’s for this reason, and many more, that Minecraft is still enjoyed by millions even to this day. The fact that it’s one of the most played games of 2022, despite coming out more than ten years ago, shows the impact that it’s had on the industry and that there are so many fans out there who continue to create within its world.

It’s a testament to its longevity, but more than that, Minecraft is also one of the most chill video games around. With its tranquil music and opportunities to build near-infinite structures in the ever-expanding landscape, it’s unlikely that Minecraft will cease being as popular as it currently is, especially with the developer frequently updating the game and implementing new ideas.

Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
