“Gotham Knights” PS4 And Xbox One Versions Cancelled

Well, it seems that Gotham Knights is forsaking anyone who doesn’t own a next-gen console. Why else would they announce the cancellation of both the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game?

No More Last-Gen For Us?

Great gameplay trailer, until you get to the very end.

The latest gameplay trailer for Gotham Knights on YouTube showed off a great-looking game, but then quashes any excitement for it at the very end for everyone who only owns a Ps4 or Xbox One. The end of the trailer reveals that the game will only be for PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). The PS4 and Xbox One versions are no longer in the works.

According to IGN, Warner Bros. Interactive officially announced the cancellation of the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights alongside that gameplay trailer. Warner Bros. Interactive apparently only gave a short and vague explanation for the cancellation that merely stated that it would “provide players with the best possible gameplay experience“. They say nothing more than that.

Well, this is just my opinion, but it’s only the “best possible gameplay experience” if you can actually play Gotham Knights. If you can’t because you can’t get your hands on either a PS5 or an Xbox Series S/X, or just don’t own a powerful enough PC to play it even at the absolute minimum graphics setting, then you can’ t really claim that. No experience at all is certainly not the “best possible gameplay experience”. Oh well, this is one potential customer Warner Bros. Interactive has lost here. Time to move on to some other game.

Gotham Knights: Details

Well, let’s see how many people pay attention to this after that Ps4 and Xbox One cancellation announcement, shall we?

For those of you who have a PS5, Xbox Series S/X, or sufficiently powerful PC; here’s more info about Gotham Knights. This will be an open world, an action role-playing game by WB Games Montreal, with similar gameplay to their previous games: Batman: Arkham City – Armored Edition and Batman: Arkham Origins. This is, however, not a game set in the Batman: Arkham universe. The story will be a standalone thing from that game series.

As for what Gotham Knights is about? Well, if you watched the gameplay trailer, then you might note that Batman is apparently dead in this game. So is apparently James Gordon. Thus, it’s up to Batman’s 4 proteges to continue his legacy. The video description from the gameplay trailer has a bit more for us today. Check it out below:

“The streets of Gotham are under new protection.

In this first reveal of Nightwing and Red Hood’s official gameplay, get a closer look as these Knights seek to uncover the mysteries around the elusive Court of Owls while putting a stop to the various factions attempting to exert their own control over Gotham City.

Through these Knights’ distinct abilities, fighting styles, traversal, and team up opportunities, how will you Step into the Knight?”

Gotham Knights will now launch on October 25, 2022.
