Disney Speedstorm Confirmed for PlayStation and Xbox

A few more details about disney speedstormtea Mario Kart-like racer that is supposed to be arriving later this year were released recently. disney speedstorm was officially announced back in February and now the platforms the free-to-play game will be available for are out there to the public as well.

The game, which was thought to be a rival to Mario Kart almost immediately after it was announced is going to have a traditional split-screen view, will offer online multiplayer, and will offer cross-platform functionality. However, until now it had not been known just how many platforms the new game will arrive on. During its announcement, it was teased that the title would come to PC and consoles, but no further info was provided.

A new trailer showing off some gameplay from disney speedstorm cemented just what users will be able to play the game on and it turns out it will be almost everything. At the end of the video, it was shown that it’s coming to the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC on both the Epic Games Store and Steam and the Switch through the Nintendo eShop.

The platform information is the latest bit of news to be added to what has been trickling out since the official announcement. That includes some additional info about some of the racers that will be usable when the game does finally arrive. The first trailer revealed that people could play as Mickey Mouse, Captain Jack Sparrow, Mulan, Sully from Monsters Inc.., Goofy, Donald Duck, and others, but earlier this month Baloo the Bear from The Jungle Book was also announced as a member of the Brawler class of racers.

In addition to the Brawlers, the Disney and Pixar characters can also be Tricksters, Speedsters, and Defenders in what also appears to be a kind of homage to the kind of drivers that people can pick in racers like Mario Kart. Different classes will have special abilities that can come in handy when trying to win a race.

The announcement that Disney and Pixar are getting into the kart racer genre of video games has some hoping that at the very least, there could be themed karts in Disney Speedstom that would go along with the look and feel of characters that are driving them and could even have special abilities and executables that are reminiscent of their drivers. Whether that could be something that eventually gets added to the game is still an open question, as is when exactly people can start getting their hands on it.

disney speedstorm will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
