PlayStation Plus free games for March 2022 announced

PlayStation Plus has revealed what free games the service is getting in March.

This time around, we are getting four free games, or rather, three and a half, but we’ll get to that later. First of all, let’s talk about the headliner.

Ghostrunner casts you a cyborg samurai who parkours through a cyberpunk city slicing up enemies in a single hit. It’s absolutely as awesome as it sounds, but be warned that it’s also as tough as nails, as you can die in one hit too.

Thankfully, recent free updates let you get hit twice before dying, as well as slowing things down a tad to make it more manageable, while still difficult. Only the PS5 version is free, but having played both version we found the PS4 version quite glitchy, so it’s not the worst thing ever not having both.

Another new IP from last-gen joining PS Plus is ARK: Survival Evolved. A few years old but still popular, ARK plonks you on an island filled with dinosaurs and tasks you with crafting the tools the survive. There’s a single-player mode, online multiplayer and dinosaurs, which is probably all we needed to say.

From dinosaurs to hedgehogs, Team Sonic Racing is also free in March. Mascot kart racers are always good fun, with this one setting itself by forcing you to work as a team with another racer to share power-ups and gain speed boosts.

We should state that Team Sonic Racing is free to download to console/stream to PC via the other subscription service PlayStation Now, which is heavily rumored to be folding into PS Plus in the next few months. Interestingly, the PS4 version of Ghostrunner was also available via PS Now, but has stealthily been removed.

Finally, we’ve got Ghost of Tsushima: Legendsthe online multiplayer expansion for the excellent Ghost of Tsushima that is free for people who own the base game, and available to buy as a standalone thing for those who don’t, so it’s nice that everyone can experience this for free.

Legends lets you pick from four different classes and play with three other people in four modes, some competitive, some co-operative. Both the PS4 and PS5 versions are included here, with the newer version looking especially stunning.

These games will be available to claim from March 1, and even if you don’t have a PS5 console, you can just use the smartphone app or on PC. The games will be available to play as long as you have an active subscription, so if you leave then return, you’ll get access again.
